AIDS2010ForAll: Welcome PLHIV NOT going to Vienna!

Original post: 07.07.10
AIDS2010ForAll: Welcomes PLHIV and PWTB who can't be in Vienna, but should be! Don't miss the AIDS 2010 International Conference, in Vienna, 18 - 23 July via AIDS2010ForAll.
The IMAXI Cooperative is organizing 5 days of online & frontline 'happenings' with live feeds from Vienna, and real time reactions from our communities that struggle against the diseases. Across many media platforms, IMAXI will connect PLHIV & PWTB 'stakeholders' with key sessions relating to GIPA, GIPT, HIV/TB, Universal Access, Stigma, Human Rights, Women, Migrants, IDU, MSM, Sex Workers, Accountability, Representation, Community Care and Empowerment…

Following on from exciting trials of new technologies to 'Open' the World Health Assembly (WOHA) in May, and the 26th PCB of UNAIDS (UNAIDS4ALL) in June, the IMAXI Cooperative is rolling forward, breaking new ground on the road to Vienna during July. We've organized AIDS2010ForAll, and we're now registered as an AIDS 2010 Independent Conference Hub, allowing the community to be involved in conference sessions and events in the Global Village. So come along — there's no cost, no visa, no stress - and its easy.

To 'come' to AIDS2010ForAll, you just need a mobile or cell phone for easy participation by SMS. For those with access to the internet, we have different services available depending on the quality of connection and country, including live twitter and video from correspondents at different sessions, real-time video, powerpoint presentations from key sessions and video tapes produced by the Kaiser Foundation, with ongoing 'activist' commentary by, and for the community. Come innovate, in common cause.

Welcome to AIDS 2010 For All. 18-23 July
You can have your say and/or take knowledge your way.
Participate via SMS, Skype, Twitter, Facebook or at www.imaxi.org
For the best 'connectivity', registration is recommended. Contact us

AIDS2010ForALL is 'sponsored' by the World Care Council, another NGO without any resources, but loads of activists' energies. www.worldcarecouncil.org

Interesting to see this developing

In May I thought the World Open Health Assembly was a good idea. In June, I saw that the imaxi coverage of UNAIDS for ALL become more interesting and the videos add depth. Now I see another opening event in Vienna, and wish you all the best. These trials will pave the way to participate at a distance for many of us in the future.

Correction: Independent Conference Hub

Following a helpful e-mail from the organizers of the AIDS 2010 Conference Hubs, we wish to inform everyone that WE ARE NOT an OFFICIAL Conference Hub but rather an Independent Conference Hub, officially registered with the organizers. http://www.aids2010.org/Default.aspx?pageId=186
We're happy to be an Independent Conference Hub, and glad that the organizers are supportive of our hub amplifying efforts. Also, stay tuned later today for a new little graphic for AIDS2010ForAll, and news on some special sessions.

The future of 'involvement' is by internet

I agree that this IMAXI is interesting to see grow. Using the internet to connect people to meeting is tomorrow today. The future of 'involvement' is by internet I'm sure.

AIDS2010ForALL-Tweets to Text by SMS

I like imaxi's system to take the tweets from AIDS 2010 and convert to SMS and send to those without access to internet. Not many ppl have web at hand but many PLHIV have cellphones in their pockets. It is important to try to reach the community outside the same usual faces that have access and are going to the conference anyway.

Myself, sms is best connection

Little moneys for internet time. big interet for Imaxi connection by mobile. Pleas inform on SMS syteme on AIDS2010forall. And much other people here at MZ like myself use fone texto allways.

AIDS 2010 For All session suggestion

I tried to get an idea of the programme at the AIDS 2010 conference at http://pag.aids2010.org but its sooo complicated. Is there a list of what sessions IMAXI is linking? If I can suggest one it would be the one on HIV and TB chaired by Paula Akugizibwe from ARASA and Haileyesus Getahun from WHO. HIV and TB: Clinical and Programmatic Approach. Sounds boring but its where we should be.TNX

Keeping the Promise and Global Fund

The Global Fund at AIDS 2010

A large symposium session on "The Global Fund: Proving Impact, Promoting Rights" will be held at the upcoming XVIII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2010) in Vienna, Austria, on 18-23 July 2010.

According to the conference programme, the symposium will discuss the impact that the Global Fund is having on preventing new infections and reducing mortality. In particular, it will focus on the role of the Fund in scaling up more effective responses to HIV, and on the importance of Global Fund financing of human rights-based programming and advocacy. Finally, the symposium will discuss the future role that the Global Fund needs to play in the AIDS response to attain universal access, and what might be achieved through a fully funded replenishment in October 2010.

Panellists will include Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director of the Global Fund, and Joanne Csete, long-time AIDS and human rights activist from the U.S. The symposium is on Wednesday, 21 July at 14:30.

This is the only large session completely devoted to the Global Fund in the conference proper. However, there are two satellite sessions on strengthening the capacity of CCMs, organised by the Global Fund and Grant Management Solutions " one in French on Sunday, 18 July at 11:15, and one in English in Thursday, 22 July at 18:30. In addition, the Global Fund is presenting a satellite called "Are We Winning the War Against HIV in Asia?" on Sunday, 18 July at 15:45.

The Asian People"s Alliance for Combating HIV/ AIDS (APACHA) is organising a satellite called "A Consultation to Identify the Gaps in Good Governance in Country Specific GFATM Grants" on Thursday, 22 July at 07:00.

A presentation on the Global Fund " "Effective Use of Global Fund Funding for HIV/AIDS" " will be included in a symposium on "When Does HIV Funding Strengthen Health Systems?" on Wednesday, 21 July at 11:00.

Pick Your Sessions at AIDS2010 for all

Have your say where we 'go' at the Conference. The IMAXI team must choose a limited number of specific sessions and events to focus on during the AIDS 2010 Vienna Conference, and your inputs, suggestions and reasons are important.
Pleae take a tour of the Program and let us know what interests you. http://pag.aids2010.org/

Is This the End of AIDS Diplomacy?

Suggestion for Sunday 18 July
SUSS02 Is This the End of AIDS Diplomacy?
Maybe we'll learn from Diplomats about broken promises.

Better than the Trade show

Even if I had all the money and time and visas i think its better to stay home and meet up by AIDS2010forall. The conference are like a big trade show for people organisations and companies that all have financial interests in HIV. Maybe in Vienna new research presentation will lead to new jobs or contracts.Almost everyone there is paid to be there as part of the job. Thats their interest. My one interest is just getting treatment and maybe helping others to. Now by imaxi internet i can follow the meetings and get more information and literacy. maybe with other homebodys like me we can do some things together here an there. Better than the trade show, i like this new stylee of distance learning and acting.
